5000 Days.

5000 days... 5000 days of rape, harassment, assault, extreme torture.
5000 days of being kept away from children, of being imprisoned, of being charged for crimes that were probably not even been committed in the first place.

Yes, 5000 days of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui being held in the FMC Carswell, Fort Worth Texas, Divided States of America (post-Trump world) convicted; sentenced to 86 years in prison.

A soft-spoken, down-to-earth, kindhearted girl with a scarf, as her mates define. A Pakistani-Muslim with a PhD in neuroscience from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as she was. A woman working for the welfare of Muslims through various charitable organizations as much as for jail inmates. A lady working for the welfare of Islam in an extremely anti-Islam and anti-Muslim country. A humanitarian working for refugees through different organizations.

I'm not engaging anyone in the argument of her working for Al-Qaeda or not, of her assaulting the guards or not, attempted murder or not, of her carrying various documents and notes of bomb making and containers of sodium cyanide or not, of her buying highly scientific military equipments or not, of her being in the hands of talibaan in Afghanistan or not, of her being under the influence of Abdullah Azzam (the mentor of OBL) or not, of her being abducted by US or Pakistani intelligence agencies or not, and of everything she was always accused of.

The sole purpose of this piece is to remind the people who have (if) forgotten the unending and countless promises our so called 'Democratic' politicians have made and are still making about the bail and safe return of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. Be it the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Yousuf Raza Gillani or the then opposition leader (now) Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif or the chairman of the party who symbolizes itself as the only group who's upto break the status quo of the country and who tends to change the system as a whole, Mr. Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi, our politicians and leaders have made countless promises over the passage of time about the release of Dr. Aafia. But by far, no progress made, no steps taken, nothing. Amidst all the issues either Panama leaks or Dawn gate or the race to being the strongest opposition party against the PMLN government, it seems like our leaders don't even remember Dr. Aafia Siddiqui's name. But of course, like all other promises and commitments made, let's believe the fact that the promise of the bail of Dr. Aafia was merely a 'political statement' to gain mileage and votes. Hence, nothing else.

The conclusion to be made is; our leaders and politicians are very much intoxicated by the addiction of their powers and they probably don't even care about the children who haven't seen their mother in a long time, the woman who's been being raped, assaulted, harassed since ages!

5000 days... Of nothing done, nothing achieved!
